St. Matthews Worship Site – Stations of the Cross Clean Up
The Revitalization Committee are looking for volunteers to help with the clean up of the Stations of the Cross behind St. Matthews Worship site. It would be ideal if we had 14 groups with each taking on a station much like how the area was first built back in the year 2000.
Plans for 2024
Over the last 20+ years the trees have grown 20 feet taller making the area very dark and gloomy. It would be a great start if we removed all of the brush, deadwood and ugly trees that offer no beauty and are blocking the sun. Then we could rent a chipper to make use of the wood. The chips could be used for areas around the Stations and the excess given to parishners.
Future Plans
Paint the crosses and fix the bases. Add a few benches. Now that more is known about deer resistance plants, greenery that the deer hate will be planted. It should be a peaceful serene place to pray and worship.
St. Augustine’s Memorial Coins – Still Available
We are fortunate to have beautiful memorial coins available for parishioners to purchase in memory of our St. Augustine Church. If you missed getting one there are still coins available at the Medicine Shop in Grand Bay-Westfield and at the Parish Office for the low price of $3.00.
